Indian Couture Week 2016 has been a perfect blend of beauty, tradition, and the nostalgia of yesteryears. While day one saw Persian dreams of Manish Malhotra weaved in the veil of a bride, with Deepika Padukone and Fawad Khan making it a royal affair, day two saw Tarun Tahiliani’s homage to courtesans, and Anita Dongre’s tribute to eternal love, with both the renowned designers making a fabulous debut on at ICW 2016.

As the fashion marvel continues to unravel, we will take you through the day three of ICW 2016 today. The third day featured the collections of Reynu Taandon, Rimple and Harpreet Narula, with Rahul Mishra’s creativity gracing the ramp in the evening, and finally closing with a fabulous collection from none other than ace designer Anamika Khanna.
Reynu Taandon brought to us the young and confident bride of today’s generation. While the days before had us marvelling in the vintage and royal eras, this take on the modern bride won us over. With the gorgeous Divya Kumar Khosla dressing up as a bride again, she stopped our hearts as the show stopper for the designer. Take a look at Reynu Taandon’s ‘Kamangiri’, as it combines the traditional conventions, with the modern idea of being a bride.
Next were designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula, who depicted a different, yet ethereally beautiful theme of a bride’s moods transcending from day to night, in their collection, with Punjabi poetry by Amrita Pritam, recited by Gulzar, as background score, creating that perfect environment for display. Yami Gautam looked like a marvel as she turned show stopper for the designer duo, dressed in dreamy hues of blue and gold.

If you thought that the visuals were stunners enough for the day, you might be a tad bit wrong here. There was more to come.
Next in line was the collection of Rahul Mishra, to refresh the evening, as the weaves that his magical hands had created, walked and owned the ramp. We thought that bridal beauty and the essence of wedding, royalty, and vintage had been captured in all its glory till now. But then, Rahul’s collection unfolded like a dream, inspired by the gardens that spelled the mystical aura that a bride is. With blues and greens rocking the backgrounds, the gorgeousness of the unconventional take on bridal wear was exemplified tenfold. Rahul’s homage to nature and its beauty, the ‘Monsoon Diaries’, definitely stole our hearts.
Take a look at the gorgeous collection.
Soothing and surreal, indeed, such was the collection.
Next, and indeed apt as the grand finale of the day, was Anamika Khanna’s show. The designer, who is known for her subtle yet edgy style, caught our attention with her collection ‘When Time Stood Still’. The element of a soft and mushy romance was carefully embedded in the designs that truly made us keep aside our cell phones and stare at those in wonder. With actress Sonam Kapoor in the front row looking her beguiling self in the white half-saree, the event also saw biggies like Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan applauding the ace designer.
And there she was, charming us away with that beautiful smile, and looking breath-taking, Sonam Kapoor, wearing an Anamika Khanna half saree.
What a day, with a perfect finale! The biggest fashion deal is not yet sealed. Stay tuned for more updates on ICW 2016.
