Earlier today, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam shaved his head following to a fatwa issued by a Kolkata-based cleric. After Sonu Nigam tweeted against waking up to the azaan call in the morning, a Kolkata-based maulvi announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anybody who tonsured the Bollywood singer and put a garland of old shoes around singer’s neck.
In response to the same, Sonu Nigam sarcastically tweeted saying that “so this is not religious gundagardi” and that he will get his hair shaved. The singer even invited media at his home today before shaving off his hair. Sonu Nigam made more clarification on his tweets during the press conference conducted outside his residence.

“I am a secular person. It was not about azaan, it was about the loud sound. Playing loud sound on a speaker is gundagardi for me,” Nigam told reporters.
“What is happening to the country? Anyone can lynch anyone or anyone can issue a fatwa. I’m not talking about any single religion,” he added.
Sonu Nigam also stated that when he wrote about temples and gurudwara, no one noticed. Despite shaving off his head, maulvi is unhappy and in a statement said that Sonu Nigam has done only one out of his three demands that he had issued in a fatwa.
Nevertheless, the whole industry is standing in support of the singer! Parineeti Chopra, who too is an integral part of the film fraternity, was asked about her opinion on Sonu Nigam’s controversy. The actress replied saying, “I really feel everyone in the world has their own opinion. I don’t have any opinion. Main apne life mei mast hoon.”
