Off late, there are lots of things going in the country, but one of the important debates is on, “if women should pay tax for sanitary napkins?” While going through the news feed of the day on Twitter, our attention caught to the trending tag, “#LahuKaLagaan.” A lot of people including Bollywood celebrities have tweeted to curb this awful tax on women’s basic necessity- sanitary napkins.
Well, not each one can afford such expensive sanitary napkins, and if we are expecting a healthy and hygienic India, one needs to take the initiative to make sanitary napkins tax-free, as they are women’s necessity and not a “luxury.”
In fact, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor’s sister Anshula Kapoor also took to Twitter requesting current finance minister ArunJaitley to stop applying taxes on necessities of women. The young girl raised her voice against the most important issue and tweeted, “Sir, @arunjaitley sanitary napkins shouldn’t be a luxury. Why should women be taxed to bleed when we have no control over it? #LahukaLagaan.”
