So, Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan gets a new release date, courtesy its clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. The R Balki film, which was originally set to arrive in cinemas on January 25 along with Padmaavat, has been pushed ahead for all the right reasons. As we all know, Box Office clashes have never worked out in favour of any film and this decision by the makers of PadMan is definitely the right one.

Akshay Kumar decided to shift the film’s release date at the request of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. “It is essential for them to release the film ‘Padmaavat’ as quickly as possible, so I agreed to move the release date of my film ‘PadMan’ ahead. It will now be released on February 9,” Akshay confirmed the news during a press conference in Mumbai on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, Bhansali thanked Akshay for understanding the situation and said “I’ll be grateful to him for lifetime.”
“Padmaavat’ has been made after facing a lot of difficulties, we decided on release date of 25 Jan but it was with Akshay Kumar’s film ‘PadMan’. We then requested him to move release date of his film ahead and he agreed,” Bhansali was quoted as saying by ANI.
Releasing a low budget film(PadMan) and a big budget movie(Padmaavat) together on long weekend could have possibly hit the box office collection of Akki’s PadMan. Needless to say, after all the controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat too was in desperate need of wanting entire slot to be reserved for his movie release. So the decision to postpone PadMan is a win-win for both the movies.
