This comes as a sort of relief for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Padmavati movie. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor’s Padmavati to have a new title.
Padmavati movie is finally given U/A certificate by censor board. After all the hurdles and struggles, Sanjay Leela Bhansali sees a ray of hope but with major adjustments. To start with, the movie name Padmavati may become ‘Padmavat’. Also the board wants modification to Deepika Padukone’s ‘ghoomar song.
A leading agency tweeted, “Central Board of Film Certification had examining committee meeting on 28 Dec to review #Padmavati & decided to give it UA certificate along with some modifications & likely change of the title to Padmavat. Certificate to be issued once required & agreed modifications are made.”
“The film was approached with balanced view keeping in mind both the filmmakers & society. Considering complexities & concerns around the film the requirement for a special panel was felt by CBFC to add perspective to the final decision: CBFC #Padmavati.”
The film screening was held in presence of special panel who were invited with on-going complexities and concerns around the film. The special panel consisted of Shri Arvind Singh from Udaipur, Dr. Chandramani Singh and K.K. Singh of the Jaipur University. “The members of the panel had insights and also some reservations regarding the claimed historical events and socio-cultural aspects, which were duly discussed at length.”
According to Joshi, the modification details and the decision have been shared with the producers–Viacom 18 Motion Pictures — and Mr. Bhansali. They have agreed for the required modifications.
The special advisory panel at a CBFC is not a new practice, earlier they were called for movies like Aarakshan, Jodhaa Akbar.
CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said, “The change in the title was suggested because the film is based on a fictional novel., “We thought it would be better to clarify than add to the confusion.”
The certificate, as per procedure, will be issued once the required modifications are carried out and the final material is submitted to the CBFC.
As soon Sanjay Leela Bhansali will make the official announcement of the changes and advised modifications, CBFC will handover U/A certificate for Padmavati.
Let’s see when Padmavati( now Padmavat) will announce it’s release date. January is already booked with two major films,Akshay Kumar’s PadMan and Sidharth Malhotra’s Aiyaary. February has Aishwarya Rai and Anil Kapoor’s starrer Fanne Khan, Anushka Sharma’s post marriage first production movie Pari and Rani Mekerji’s comeback with Hichki.
We guess Sanjay Leela Bhansali will have enough tensions with regards to movies release date.
