Saif Ali Khan Once Again Speaks Up On Son Taimur Ali Khan’s Name Controversy and Why He Chose Muslim Name

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan’s newly born son, Taimur Ali Khan is currently ruling the social media. The two-month-old baby might be peacefully sleeping at his home on Sunday night but little did he know that he has become a talk of the town. Recently, a close-up photo of Taimur frowning into the camera had gone viral on social media. The picture is said to be picked from Saif Ali Khan’s DP on phone. While son Taimur has already become a star, dad Saif Ali Khan once again opens up on the controversy regarding the name of his son.(Also Read: Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan’s Latest Shoot is Straight Out of A Royal Dream Fest)

In an interview with NDTV, Saif said, “I’ve known a couple of people called Taimur while growing up and there was drama involved, it was just a nice name. It means iron and it’s a strong, beautiful sounding name. Yes, I am aware there is a Mongol ruler who was possibly a little violent but I think that was the whole point really, if you want to be a conquering general you have to be a little violent. I want to say I’ve not named Taimur after him.”(Also Read: Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s Charming Toddler Taimur Ali Khan’s Looks Is Stunning Us!)

Saif’s choice of name for his son provoked Twitter and in no time after Taimur was born, he was trolled on the social media. However, now Saif has come up with an explanation on why he chose Muslim name for his son.

Saif, “I’m aware that there’s a certain amount of Islamophobia in the world today and as Muslims, if we don’t somehow own it then who will? I can’t very well name my son Alexander and realistically can’t name him Ram. So why not a nice Muslim name and bring him up with secular values so that people meeting him say ‘what a nice guy’ and that’s the end of the name.”

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Saif Ali Khan is currently promoting his film Rangoon, which also stars Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor. The film releases on February 24.
