Met Gala 2018 Red Carpet: Best and Worst Dressed Celebs, From Rihanna to Kylie Jenner

Hollywood’s best and worst dressed stars at Met Gala 2018 from Kim Kardashian to Amal Clooney, Kendall Jenner to Blake Lively

Annual MET Gala is a fundraising benefit held for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and is one of the biggest days of the year for celebrities to show off their unique fashion sense. MET Gala 2018 was no different! Hollywood celebrities, music artists, fashion designers, socialites and many more graced the red carpet with their interpretation of this year’s theme — “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”.

While some looks were an utter miss, some simply took our breath away!

Let us see some of the best looks from the MET Gala 2018 red carpet:

The ‘Wild Thoughts’ singer Rihanna stunned us all in her silver ensemble. Riri wore a Maison Margiela Artisanal outfit designed by John Galliano. Riri added oomph to her outfit by donning a bishop’s hat designed by Stephen Jones millinery.

Actress Blake Lively has been giving us urban chic fashion goals ever since her ‘Gossip Girl’ days. MET Galas have not been an exception. Blake looked every bit of a heavenly body in her custom-made Atelier Versace gown. The deep red silk-velvet embroidered gown had a crystal encrusted bustier that cascaded into a full embroidered train. Blake completed the ensemble with Christian Louboutin shoes and a Judith Leiber Couture bag.

One of the best dressed of the evening was supermodel Gigi Hadid. Clad in brown-blue embellished gown custom-made by Atelier Versace Gigi looked like she could take a flight anywhere! The model wore a one-shouldered high leg slit gown with a train featuring stained-glass inspired handcrafted crystal embroidery.

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian West makes us wish we could sport such Monday looks! The sixth most followed Instagram user wore a form fitting metal mesh golden gown by Versace. The slick haired diva’s gown also had a crystal cross embellishment on the thigh.

Kylie Jenner and boyfriend Travis Scott were the very definition of twinning at the MET Gala this year! Kylie wore a bespoke Alexander Wang creation. A sculpted black velvet gown with an exposed duchess satin bralette and silver zip detailing. To match his lady love Travis also wore an Alexander Wang created military tuxedo with a leather harness.

Ever stylish Amal Clooney stepped up the stairs to the gala with her husband George Clooney. The lawyer chose to wear a British designer Richard Quinn’s creation. Amal turned heads in her floral strapless gown paired with a slick pair of black pants. If the pants were not enough Amal was gliding up the stairs thanks to her luxurious floral train.

Stickler to the theme of the evening, Jennifer Lopez dazzled in her Balmain gown. The singer wore a bespoke gem-encrusted dress with black ostrich feather train. The holier than thou dress had a huge cross detail on the bust which quite frankly stole the show.

Priyanka Chopra wore a red gown but as expected the outfit had a lot of oomph! Priyanka Chopra chose to wear a gown from the Ralph Lauren Collection. The wine-red velvet strapless gown had a beautiful velvet train along with a golden embellished and embroidered hood.

Singer and actress Rita Ora looked every bit of a gothic princess in her Prada gown. The black sequin column layered beneath, a black tulle full gown with train embroidered all over in fluoroplexi and mirror faceted crystals, long black sequin gloves. The blonde haired singer completed her look with a small yellow plexi clutch and an impressive black headpiece.

The worst dressed celebrities at the Met Gala 2018:

Selena Gomez floored us all with her outfit for the gala last year but at MET Gala 2018 she simply looked washed out. Selena wore a white Coach dress with a sheer skirt. Even the singer’s golden eyeshadow and silver cross could not save her from committing this fashion blunder.

+{MUST READ} To be honest I feel so ashamed towards Selena and her team because of what some Selenators have caused. I feel so bad for all of them. This should have never happened, it’s so disrespectful. They all worked so hard and Sel loved her look. She was so excited to show us her dress and wanted to be on IG with us. And look what some “fans” did, they completely bashed her and her team. Which made her not go on IG to connect with us. And people still wonder why we are losing our connection with her? Well this is a big reason. Shame on those few people who put us Selenators in a bad day light. I loved her look, every little bit of it. Yes it is maybe different than what we are used to but I love a good change. I’m proud of their hard work and I’m proud of Selena. -Lotte?

Can Kendall Jenner ever top her MET Gala 2017’s look? Remember the infamous string gown made with 85,000 crystals? Perhaps this time the young model made a conscious effort in choosing a demure outfit. Kendall at MET Gala 2018 wore an Off-White designed pant suit with an off-shoulder ruched top along with sheer elbow-length gloves. The model completed her look with Off-White and Jimmy Choo’s collaborated heels along with Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings and rings. While the entire look is beautiful it is a bit pale for the MET Gala, right?

Another look that was too sore for the eyes was Sarah Jessica Parker’s. While Sarah has proven to be an inspiration to us since her Carrie Bradshaw days, MET Gala 2018 was somewhat a blunder. The actress wore an Alta Moda corset gown with a cathedral train embroidered with gold baroque embellishments and sacred hearts. The Dolce and Gabbana gown along with a Neapolitan nativity altar had sacred hearts in gold filigree. However, Sarah’s gown was not her undoing, the towering headpiece she wore was! While the gown went perfectly along with the theme the headpiece looked simply out of place on Sarah and putting a damper on her look.

One look at this ensemble and one thought comes in our heads— “Did someone reject Katy Perry as a Victoria’s Secret Angel?” The pop princess showed up at the MET Gala in a custom-made, Atelier Donatella Versace gold chainmail mini-dress. The dress had bronze netted crystal overlay and the singer paired it up with thigh-high chainmail boots. One might think it is a good enough dress for the MET Gala but Katy Perry’s custom-made wings say otherwise. The larger than life wings made with hand-painted degradé feathers that span nearly six-feet gave the singer’s look an edge. Now for some the wings add the extra oomph but for some it looked plain out of place.

Supermodel Bella Hadid looked extremely out of place in her all black ensemble. Bella wore an custom-made piece by Chrome Hearts. The model paired a latex top with a long black skirt, a structured black bolero and a gold embellished black lace train. If not the catholic bodies up in the heaven, Count Dracula or Darth Vader will be pleased by Bella Hadid’s look.
