Actor Akshay Kumar won his first National Award for ‘Rustom’ yesterday. The 64th National Film Awards on Friday afternoon announced Akshay Kumar as Best Actor for Rustom movie. After winning National Award, Akku could not believe the fact and though it’s late April fool prank. With the mixed feelings of joy and a little confusion and happiness, Akshay said , “It is great news. National Film awards are the most prestigious awards in the country. It is a moment of pride for sure. The first reaction, honestly, was if this was a late April Fool’s joke (laughs)! Actually, I am still trying to process this win, it is a mix of many emotions – surprise, happiness and, most prominently, gratitude to the jury, makers of the film, my parents and of course the beloved fans”.
He also expressed his gratitude on twitter

Since past few years Akshay entertained us with the best movies like Jolly LLB, Airlift and Special 26. He has got midas touch delivering three, sometime even four back to back super-hit movies in a year. We can’t deny the fact that he is an ace actor, hard working and completely character living being. While many congratulated Akshay including his wife Twinkle Khanna for his first National Award win, many weren’t happy. Not for a single moment we have a mixed thoughts or doubt about his ability and acting skills but then we had other strong movies Udta Punjab, M.S.Dhoni and Aligarh to consider for the award. To all those who are not happy with Akshay’s win over National Award, Khiladi has got this straight forward message. In an interview with HT Akshay said, “be honest with his work and would give it his best to people who trust him”. He further added, “Itna keh sakta hun mai ki ye award bhi maine imandari se jita hai. Maine aaj tak cheating nahi ki. Neither have I ever made a call to anyone to win an award nor have given money or done favours for it”.
Akshay gave the classic reply to all those people who are angry and judging his capabilities.
