The much-awaited trailer of Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is finally out and is a satirical take on a battle against the age-old tradition of open defecation in the country. Well, Akshay Kumar makes a choice to do cinema with patriotic fervor, and this time, he has come up with a powerful message to improve sanitation conditions in India.
Set in two villages near Mathura, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha traces the love story between a simple man Keshav (Akshay Kumar) and progressive Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar). All’s well in their lives until Jaya (Bhumi) is introduced to the lota gang by the women of her house. However, she doesn’t accept the unwanted condition. Going against all odds, Keshav and Jaya attempt to go against the age old tradition of open defecation in the country.
From the panchayat to the sanitation department, from villagers to Government, from scams to what not, Keshav (Akshay Kumar) and Jaya (BhumiPednekar) go to every extent for the much-needed change.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who plays a pivotal role in the film, is seen supporting Jaya and Keshav’s cause. He has totally come as a surprise in yet another strong role.
