Apart from being a stellar filmmaker, Karan Johar is known for being witty, sassy and extremely candid. Just recently on ISHQ FM’s popular talk show ‘Calling Karan Season 2’ Karan gave us an example of how outspoken he can get. On thechat show where Karan Johar serves as a love guru, recently he had an interesting take as to why two kids should not be labelled as ‘brother-sister’.
Karan began by stating that when a boy and a girl are together they are immediately told to address each other as ‘bhaiyya’ (brother) and ‘didi’ (sister)—which according to the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ director is wrong.
“Yehi problem hai humare desh mein. Jab ladka ladk iek saath hote hai toh immediately bolte hai ‘bhaiyya bolo’, ‘didi bolo’… Arre, bilkul nahi yaar, (This is the problem with our country. When we see a boy and a girl together, we immediately tell them to call each other ‘brother’ and ‘sister’. This should never happen.”

He further advocated his point by bringing up his daughter Roohi Johar and Pataudi family’s Chote Nawab Taimur Ali Khan into the picture.
Karan explained that when Yash Johar and Roohi Johar have play dates with his long-time friend Kareena Kapoor Khan’s son Taimur Ali Khan— his nanny asks Roohi to address Taimur as ‘bhaiyya’. And how Karan does not like that.
Karan further said, “I am like, ‘Kyun?’ 20 saal ke baad maybe Taimur aur Roohi saath rehna chahte hai. Kuch bhi ho sakta hai unkaapna. Hum abhi se hi kyun daraar daal rahe hai uss raaste mein? (Why? 20 years from now they may want to be together. Why are we creating a wall between them already?)”
Does this mean that Taimur and Roohi who are obliviously playing in this ball pit could be dating each other in the next 20 years or so?
Karan Johar’s response was certainly thought provoking as we think that the filmmaker certainly would not mind being related to the Khan family in the future!
