John Abraham’s ‘Satyameva Jayate’ To Leave Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gold’ Behind At The Box-Office This Independence Day?

John Abraham’s ‘Satyameva Jayate’ To Leave Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gold’ Behind At The Box-Office This Independence Day?

Long weekends and holidays are extremely important for the box office— like how Diwali and Eid weekends are always booked for watching a Salman Khan or a Shah Rukh Khan movie. Similarly, Akshay Kumar has followed the trend to release his movies around Independence Day and the Republic Day. This time around too, Akshay Kumar is all set to release his ‘Gold’ on Independence Day. However, it looks like John Abraham is ready to leave Akshay Kumar behind when it comes to crunching numbers at the box-office.

Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy starrer ‘Gold’ and John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee starrer ‘Satyameva Jayate’ are all set to lock horns on the box office this Independence Day. Interestingly, this Independence Day weekend is going to be long one so maybe both the movies will have an equal opportunity to impress the audience?

9 Times Bollywood Blatantly Ripped Off Hollywood Movies

‘Satyameva Jayate’ director Milap Zaveri stated in an interview that he does not see this as a clash. “If they are Gold, we are bold. On a serious note, I don’t think it’s a clash. Both films have a different audience. It’s a long weekend, we have quite a few holidays coming up- Parsi New Year, Eid.”

On the other hand, when ‘Gold’ director Reema Kagti was asked about this box-office clash, she kept it precise by stating: “Good luck to both the films.”

In the meanwhile, both the movies have been surrounded by tremendous buzz. ‘Gold’ for its period costumes, storyline and Mouni Roy’s Bollywood debut. ‘Satyameva Jayate’ for its trailer, songs and vigilante action genre.

However, trade analyst Sumit Kadel is of the opinion that despite Akshay Kumar’s stardom—John Abraham’s ‘Satyameva Jayate’ might eat into Gold’s box office collection.

Talking about the box-office prediction of ‘Satyameva Jayate’ to an online news portal, the trade analyst said, “The film will work at the multiplexes as well as the single screens,”.

Further Sumit Kandel explained, “The film has got almost 2500 screens across the country, which is a really good number. Also, since it’s releasing on the Independence Day holiday, I think it can easily take an opening of Rs 10 crore-Rs 12 crore. I am quite certain that it won’t be below that. This would be the best ever solo opening for a John Abraham-starrer.”

Man of the hour— John Abraham too has the same expectations. In a previous interview John stated that his film would make a better commercial hit when against Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gold’ rather than a weekend later on its lonesome.
