She is Leela to his Ram, Mastani to his Bajrao. She is Deepika, to Ranveer, as he has been declaring so proudly all this while. This time, she will be Padmavati to his character, in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next historical romance venture, which is set to go on floors in September, if rumours are to be believed. Yes, Deepika Padukone to be Ranveer Singh’s Padmavati is what confirmed, with replacing the speculated names Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut.
The movie is supposed to be based on the infatuation that the emperor Alauddin Khilji had for Queen Padmavati, who he wanted to acquire by force. The queen, being a Rajput in name and honour, defied his vile intentions, and committed Jauhar instead.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has earlier come up with fascinating stories, starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Be it a take on Romeo & Juliet as Ram Leela, or a saga as ethereal and heart wrenching as the love story of Bajrao Mastani, the trio have managed to enchant the audience. Hopefully, they will manage the same third time too.
