The fever had been building up from the past two months, ever since the proposal of the two went viral, and after the last two days of pre-wedding festivities, finally the day arrived. Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover’s Monkey Wedding! The duo finally got married in a fun-filled and totally bindaas Bengali ceremony at St. Regis at Lower Parel in Mumbai, with their families and friends from the Indian television and film industry in attendance.
While Bipasha looked a vision in the red lehenga designed by Rocky S, Karan stuck to the whites in a spot-free dhoti-kurta, and still managed to take our hearts away.
The right man can make you blush, even if you are as hot as Bipasha, Just the way these two look at each other give you love and marriage goals for life.
Take a look at the decorations. The wedding hall was studded with blown up wallpapers of the pre-wedding ceremonies, with the “MonkeyWedding” caption adorning the walls funkily.
For the reception that followed the ceremony, Bipasha looked stunning in in the ivory gold lehenga designed by Sabyasachi, while Karan stole hearts with his white fetish, this time with the tuxedo.
The wedding and reception saw some of the biggest names of Bollywood showing up to shower their blessings and good wishes to the couple. Let’s take a look on the who’s who of the industry who attended the ceremonies.
The Bachchans showed up to make a statement. While Amitabh Bachchan was his usual classy self, by donning white kurta-payjama, with black polka dotted waistcoat, it was Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who caught our attention. The duo had colour coordinated themselves in black and grey. Aishwarya looked enthralling in a Manish Malhotra piece which was embellished with mirrors, while Abhishek looked dapper in classy black sherwani.
Amitabh Bachchan even obliged the paparazzi to pose candidly with his Cheeni Kum co-star Tabu, who looked gorgeous in cream and white saree. Honestly, years pass by, and the woman does not look old even by an ounce.
Abhishek and Aishwarya posed with the newly wed and happily married Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover.
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan too were amongst the ones who attended the reception. Oozing hotness, both of them looked nail-bitingly amazing in their respective outfits. Black, as they say, is never too old to be classy.
Salman and Bipasha’s friendly banter with the press, where Salman was asked the age-old question of when will he get married, was too cute.
Sonam Kapoor, the fashionista of the industry, never fails to disappoint us on the trend front. The diva looked absolutely stunning in the white saree with red border that she donned for the day, her look complete with minimalistic makeup, swept hair-do, and finishing off with a simple silver clutch.
If we were envied by Tabu’s increasing gorgeousness, trust us to just break and shatter into a million pieces, as soon as the ever-do-hot Sushmita Sen walked in. Last we remember, Main Hoon Naa had completed 12 years. Our favourite chemistry teacher looks the same though. The black gown with golden floral work looked stunning on her.
The newly-married Preity Zinta Goodenough too lighted up the ceremony by gracing it with her presence. The dimpled beauty looked gorgeous in Orange and Pink Saree, and the laal chooda perfectly added the just married aura to her look.
Two more timeless beauties took our heartbeats away at the reception. Dia Mirza and Neha Dhupia have managed to not only stopped, but managed to reverse the clocks. Neha dazzled in Manish Malhotra gold and cream ensemble, and Dia looked radiant as ever in a Shantanu and Nikhil piece.
Seems like the newbies will have no chance as long as evergreens like these choose to rule the hearts of Bollywood fans. One look at Malaika Arora’s beguiling periwinkle blue outfit, and it had us all panting for breath, for the sheer simplicity it had. The Anita Dongre pastels created magic on the diva.
The parents-to-be Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh too came to wish the couple and the paparazzi just could not get enough of them. Genelia looked all swelled, radiant, and absolutely stunning, and the smile just undid whatever reservations the camera might have had. Hubby Riteish had all eyes for the glowing momma-to-be of his second baby.
The pinks and oranges suited the sexy Sophie Chodry well, as tiny tendrils escaped the bun she had fashioned, and made her look all the more alluring, as she posed unabashedly for the shutterbugs.
Shamita Shetty made an appearance with brother-in-law Raj Kundra, while Shilpa Shetty could not attend her bestie’s wedding due to prior charitable engagements at Nairobi keeping her away. The younger sister however looked absolutely amazing in floral embellished creams and roses saree.
Ranbir Kapoor, who had worked with Bipasha during the early days of his career, in the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno, too made a super dashing entry, and had our hearts go tipple-topple in his tuxedo look.
The surprising entry was that of Bipasha’s ex, Dino Morea, who made an appearance looking as handsome as ever, to wish the newlywed couple.
R.Madhavan, who had worked as co-star with Bipasha in Jodi Breakers, came along with his wife Sarita Birje.
Sanjay and Manyata Dutt too graced the party with their presence, and posed for the cameras, proceeding to meet and greet the just married Bipasha and Karan, congratulating them on the event.
Karan Kundra proved that he could pull off pink just as easily and effortlessly as any female would, and that, of course, is a universal colour, from now on. Anusha Dandekar looked so in love and beautifully breath-taking in pink ensemble printed with florals.
Producer and director Divya Khosla Kumar looked gorgeous in her yellow outfit, while she came with husband Bhushan Kumar, who is the head of T-Series.
Phew! This was one wedding to remember, and would be talked about for days to come. Star-studded and totally immersed in happiness, Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover’s Monkey Wedding has sure been a kick start to their happy life together. We wish them all the luck and happiness.
