The original ‘Tamma Tamma’ song(which is remixed in Badrinath Ki Dulhania movie) was sung back in 90’s by Anuradha Paudwal. She was one of the popular surreal voice of 90’s who gave her last Bollywood song Kismat Se Tum in movie ‘Pukar’. She had given the best songs in 90’s for super hit movies like Dil, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Tezaab, Beta and more. Honored with Padma Shri, singer Anuradha stopped singing for Bollywood and followed her passion for devotional music later.
She said, “I stopped singing for Bollywood when I was at the peak of my career. I gave it my best, but then decided to pursue my passion — devotional music. Moreover, I don’t identify with today’s film music. That’s why I stay away from it,” says the singer, who is fond of composer duo, Ajay-Atul’s work, “Given a chance, I would like to sing for them.”

We know it’s become a trend(a bad one I would say) of remixing every other good old songs and fit it in movies. AR Rahman’s ‘Humma Humma’ song from Bombay movie recreated in OK Jaanu movie is not we liked over the original one. The latest recreated song is Anuradha Paudwal’s ‘Tamma Tamma’ in ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. We cannot deny the fact that remixing is flourishing the Bollywood industry like never before and bringing large box office collections. But this is also ceasing creativity and discouraging new comers to set new standards.
However Anuradha Paudwal doesn’t seems to be happy with remixing old numbers and fetching bills at box office. She said, “Earlier, I used to get upset with the way these remixes were done. They took away the essence and soul of the original songs. Gaane vidhwansak ho gaye hain (songs have a destructive tone nowadays). But now, I realise that this is how the newer generation expresses love. I wonder how they still appreciate Sufi music, which is so soulful,” says Paudwal, and adds, “People make and sell trash in the name of trends these days.”
We agree with Anuradha Paudwal as the 80’s and 90’s singers had given us the best chartbusters and meaning to the songs. They gave us the best old numbers and one should not ruin by recreating.
