Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya’s father Rajkumar Barjatya passes away on Thursday morning in Mumbai
Veteran Bollywood film producer Rajkumar Barjatya, father of Sooraj Barjatya passed away at Mumbai’s Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital on Thursday morning. The deceased was admitted at Reliance Hurkissondas Hospital on Tuesday evening after suffering a heart attack.
Rajshri Pictures’ was founded by Rajkumar Barjatya’s father Tarachand Barjatya in 1947. Sooraj Barjatya’s father Rajkumar Barjatya contributed a long time in Hindi cinema. Rajshri Films’ official Tweeter handle shared the news of Rajkumar’s demise.

Mr. Rajkumar is known for directing and producing a number of hit Bollywood films including ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, ‘Vivaah’, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo’ for the last five decades.

Trade analyst Komal Nahta and Taran Adarsh tweeted about his demise.
“Terribly shocking news. Shri Rajkumar Barjatya passed away some minutes back at Reliance Hurkissondas Hospital. Can’t believe this. Met him just a week back at his Prabhadevi office. He spent so much time with me and my family. He looked perfectly alright then. And now, he’s gone!” trade analyst Komal Nahata tweeted.

Anupam Kher, who started his filmy career with Rajshree production’s ‘Saaransh’ in 1984, also pay his condolence. He wrote:

Rajshri production movies which earned success to actress Madhuri Dixit paid tribute and tweeted: “A warm soul and a person I’d always look up to. Rajkumar Barjatya’s contribution to Bollywood is commendable. His last production venture ‘Hum Chaar’ under Rajshri banner was recently released. In this modern era his films still gives the strong message of family values and ethics.
He is now survived by his wife Sudha Barjatya and his son Sooraj Barjatya.
Salman Khan and Barjatya’s are close family friends since decades when he worked with them in Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989. Recently, Sooraj Barjatya had announced that he is going to join hands with Salman Khan once again.
Funeral of Rajkumar Barjatya will be held today at at 4.30 p.m. today at Worli crematorium.
