“Uri: The Surgical Strike” Star Vicky Kaushal’s Journey From Ordinary Man To Bollywood Fame

One name, that has now become a sensation of box office and has left an impression with all the movie buffs. Vicky Kaushal, it is not to soon to say, has become the star of B-town with a row of films under his wings this year. It wouldn’t be much to say, each of his films has set a record on box office and has garnered a lot of appreciation for the actor.

Who is this Vicky Kaushal? This question is certainly not be raised by anybody following the array of hits Bollywood has seen. But in the context of a flashback on his life, we can give you a glimpse of Vicky Kaushal.

Vicky is the firstborn to the well-known stuntman and action director Sham Kaushal, known for his work in films like Dangal, Bajirao Mastani and a lot more. He has attained an engineering degree in electronics and communication, which he was sure to not pursue as a career right from the beginning. This led to his sneaky entry into the films.

He started his stint in films by assisting Anurag Kashyap, who he considers as his mentor, on the Gangs of Wasseypur franchise. Even before that Vicky used to accompany his dad to the sets to absorb what he can from the shooting. The transition from behind the camera to facing the camera began with some minor roles in flicks like Luv Shuv Te Chicken Khurana and Bombay Velvet.

With his slow but steady moves in the filmy diaspora, Kaushal bagged a lead role in the independent drama Masaan (2015) where he played a Dalit facing castism issues. A taciturn Deepak, played by Kaushal was a character loved by many. The film received a lot of recognition and awards. He bagged the best Male debut award at IIFA and Screen awards. Thus, started the journey of a star to be born.

Films like Zubaan, Raman Raghav 2.0 released in the upcoming years. Vicky had shot for Zubaan much before Masaan but the release happened later.

His breakthrough in the circuit happened in the year 2018, which even Vicky would agree, is the year that brought him acclamation. With back to back releases, starting from the Netflix original, Love Per Square Foot to important roles played in Raazi and Sanju, the most successful films at the box office in 2018. Vicky has had his name pierced straight at the box office. Kaushal played a drastically new character in Manmarziyaan co-starring Tapsi Pannu and Abhishek Bachchan. This shift was also loved by many and fan pages had already started to flood in on social media.

If 2018 was the lucky one for Vicky, 2019 also did not fail to let Vicky down. His first release of the year, URI: The surgical strike, where Kaushal plays the lead role of a military officer, has already crossed records of blockbusters like Raazi and Stree by its second week.

Kaushal is currently enjoying his glorifying journey at the box office, while he prepares for his next, a multi-starrer under Karan Johar’s banner.  The dusky actor, has definitely achieved a hold with his outstanding acting skills and versatile performances.
