RIP: Kavi Kumar Azad aka Dr Haathi of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma Is Dead

Hindi television fraternity has come to a standstill today. Television actor Kavi Kumar Azaad known for playing the role of Dr. Hansraj Hathi in the popular sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ breathed his last on Monday afternoon in Mumbai.

As per reports Kavi Kumar Azaad was keeping unwell since the past few days but he was still reporting for shooting of the show. Upon complaining about discomfort in his chest, Azaad was rushed to Mira Road’s Wokhardt Hospital where he was announced dead on arrival. The reason for his untimely death was a massive cardiac arrest.

Producer of the show Asit Kumarr Modi confirmed the news of Kavi’s death, “We are very sad to inform loss of our senior actor Kavi Kumar Azaad. He was playing the character of Dr Hathi in Taarak Mehta Ka OoltaChashma. We lost him to a massive cardiac arrest today morning. He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly Loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning that he is not well and will not be able to come for shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything.”

Reportedly, upon hearing this devastating news ‘Taarak Mehta Ka OoltahChashma’ team has cancelled the shoot at Mumbai’s Film City.

Among the current star-cast of ‘Taarak Mehta Ka OoltahChashma’ Dr. Hansraj Hathi a.k.a Kavi Kumar Azad was associated with the show for about eight years. Apart from working in the popular sitcom, Kavi was also a part of Aamir Khan’s ‘Mela’ and ‘Funtoosh’.

As per reports, Kavi Kumar Azaad’s parents were attending a wedding in Lucknow but are now on their way to Mumbai to perform their son’s last rites.
