Amid Rising Threats and Protests, The Release Date of Film Padmavati Is Postponed

The controversy, protests, threats and the political drama around the film ‘Padmavati’ will remain in the history of Bollywood. Ever since the epic period saga of Rani Padmavati is announced, the film-makers and actors are confronting the hate and protest. 

The movie which started with vandalizing of sets from Rajput Karni Sena of Rajasthan is now been receiving fumes of hatredness as more states are joining the protest. Delhi’s BJP leader recently announced Rs.10 crore bounty for beheading Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leele Bhansali. 

Considering ongoing situation which may cause serious problems, Viacom18 Motion Pictures have decided to defer the film’s release date.

 Viacom18 Motion Pictures released an official statement saying, “We are a responsible, law-abiding corporate citizen and have the highest respect and regard for the law of the land and all our institutions and statutory bodies including the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). We always have and are committed to continue following the established procedure and convention. We have faith that we will soon obtain the requisite clearances to release the film.”

‘Padmavatai’ being the most expensive Hindi film ever at Rs150 crore was not expected to postpone it’s anticipated release date. The revised release date is not yet announced. The new date will be announced only after CBFC gives a nod and the situation calms.
