Celebrated South Indian violinist and music composer Balabhaskar who met with a car accident last week has passed away after succumbing to his extensive injuries. Balabhaskar, his wife Lakshmi, their two-year old and their driver were in the car when it crashed into a tree in Pallipuram near Thiruvananthapuram. His daughter Tejaswani was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

As per reports, Balabhaskar, aged 40, passed away at around 1 a.m. on October 2, 2018. The reason for his untimely death apart from the extensive injuries is said to be a cardiac arrest. Before his death, the music composer had undergone a surgery and was kept on ventilator support.

Balabhaskar’s wife Lakshmi and the driver are still in a critical condition and are undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Reportedly, the music composer and his wife were visiting the temple to show their gratitude to God for granting them their daughter. A source close to the family revealed that Little Tejaswani Bala was born to the couple after 15 years of marriage.

The singer-violinist-music composer’s mortal remains are being kept at Thiruvananthapuram’s University College, his alma mater, for his fans to pay their last respects. So far among several celebrities, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Finance Minister Thomas Issac have reached the college.

Balabhaskar’s last rites will be performed in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
