Actor Alok Nath is expelled from CINTAA following various allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct including one by Vinta Nanda.
Alok Nath who is also called as Sanskari Babuji for playing doting daddy role on TV was alleged of sexual allegation charges by yesteryear TV writer-producer Vinta Nanda of raping her more than once 19 years ago. The allegations were made a month back after Tanushree Dutta blew whistle against another prominent actor of Bollywood, Nana Patekar and created a much needed #MeToo movement in industry.
The allegations started gaining international attention, following which CINTAA committee was formed to tackle sexual harassment. Renuka Shahane, Raveena Tandon, Swara Bhaskar are the members on CINTAA committee.
CINTAA had sent show-cause notice to Alok Kath, to which the later didn’t respond. Cine & TV Artistes’ Association(CINTAA) shared their decision of expelling Nath via a statement on Twitter – “In view of the various allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Mr Alok Nath, after due diligence and consideration, the Executive Committee of CINTAA has decided to expel him from the Association.”

Obviously CINTAA’s this step against Nath is worth applauding and the wounds given to Vinta Nanda decades ago was soothed and she got her justice served.
Vinta told The Quint that it was a great move by the association. “It’s a very big step for an industry body to take and it’s a landmark and unprecedented step. It’s a great move in terms of establishing a system and sending a very clear message that everyone is accountable. No matter how late or early it is, if you are a part of an industry, you are accountable,” she told the publication.
“This was not the case in the past when everyone was acting with impunity and getting away with anything. It’s much larger than just my case. It’s a very broad statement, all encompassing the many complaints that have come,” she added.
“There are hundreds of complaints coming to the Screenwriters’ Association ever since the ICs were formed; there is the Indian Television and Director’s Association. Unfortunately, he was not a member with those associations, so they would not expel him but I do believe this is a very solid, collective call being taken by CINTAA, because they are fully supported by all other associations as well,” she said.
On contacting Alok Nath regarding his expelling news, he said – “I have not received anything from CINTAA yet.”
Besides Vinta Nanda, actor Sandhya Mridul too accused Alok Nath of sexual harassment, but the later denied all the charges.
Following many other sexual allegations charges, the #MeToo stories in Bollywood opened can of worms against prominent names of industry. To name a few – charges leveled against directors Sajid Khan and Vikas Bahl , Comedian Utsav Chakraborty of AIB, musician Anu Malik and the list continues.
