The Duke and Duchess of England finally set foot in Mumbai yesterday, to kick start their seven-day tour of India and Bhutan. Kate Middleton and Prince William had been planning the visit ever since the duo had gotten married, and in the words of the Prince himself;
“When Catherine and I were married, India was the first place on Catherine’s list that she told me that she wanted to visit.”
“Two children and five years later, we have finally made it – and we are both honoured to be here.”
We are clearly flattered!
The duo was escorted to their humble 700-pounds-a-night suite, where they are to stay for their stay in Mumbai. Post lunch, they were escorted to the Taj Mahal Hotel, where they paid a tribute to those who had lost their lives in the 2008 terrorist attacks. The humbleness of the Duke and Duchess can be gathered from the fact that they politely declined the invitation to stay at the Presidential suite of Tata’s hotel, which is reserved for the royals, high profile leaders, or the members of TATA family, none other.
We just could not take our eyes off the Duchess, Kate Middleton. Her smile lighted up the slums that she and Prince William insisted on visiting, and she playfully chided the Prince for challenging a boy to Bollywood dancing. Well, Prince William was even all set for a football match too, with gully team of the slums!
The highlight of the first half of the visit, however, was Kate Middleton striking a six that scored a shot straight into our hearts, for a country who loves and lives cricket! That too with the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar! The Duchess had exchanged her Alexander Mcqueen Outfit for a pretty Anita Dongre, and looked beguiling! Post hitting a clear score with Sachin, Kate also had a game or two with children at the Oval Maidan! Talk about being a royal who is so down-to-earth.
We are already in love with these two. Kate and William will be leaving Mumbai after 2 days, to proceed with the rest of their tour.
Keep watching the space. We will be updating you with all the details of the royal tour that’s happening.
