
The whole nation is in a state of shock over the brutal killing of senior journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh. The media, politicians, and everyone are shocked about how Gauri Lankesh, 55, was shot dead outside her house in Bengaluru on the night of September 5. Gauri Lankesh, who was the editor of Kannada tabloid Gauri Lankesh Patrike, was shot dead from a close range by three men just outside her house in Bengaluru.
While the Karnataka police are investigating the matter to nab the killers, protests have erupted in the areas of Bengaluru, Delhi, and Chennai. The counterparts in the neighboring states have been put on high alert and are checking people and vehicles at check posts and inter-state borders.
The shocking incident took place when the senior journalist was parking her car outside the house as she arrived. As she headed to walk towards the main entrance of her house, the killers fired at least seven rounds. According to the police, three bullets hit her in the head, neck, and chest while four struck the front wall of the house. Gauri Lankesh died on the spot.
Lankesh, 55, was the daughter of famous poet-turned-journalist P Lankesh and was the editor of Gauri Lankesh Patrike. She was known for her brave writing often against Sangh organizations and communal violence in the country. She is known as an extremely fearless activist who condemned all forms of violence.
