Amidst the celebrations of upcoming filmy weddings— fashion designer Masaba Gupta and her filmmaker husband Madhu Mantena have announced that they are parting ways after being married for 3 years. The estranged married couple has decided to go on what they have termed as a ‘trial separation’.
This news has come as a shock as there were no reports about the couple hitting a rough patch. However, in a joint statement Masaba and Madhu revealed that their decision to go separate ways has not been taken lightly as the couple has consulted professionals and their parents. During this difficult time Masaba Gupta and filmmaker Madhu Mantena have requested for some privacy as they walk towards reconciliation, hopefully.

The statement posted on Instagram further stated, “We are not strong enough to explain ourselves to even friends who deserve an answer from us. These friends, we realise are equally invested in our relationship and our individual well being. All we can say to each of them is give us time and give us love when we reach out to you. We now need a lot of it :).”
While this statement talks about Masaba and Madhu’s need for privacy and their request that their friends support them in this difficult time— it nowhere mentions the reason for their ‘trial separation’.
As soon as the post was uploaded, love and support started pouring in for the couple though the comments section. One user wrote, “Be strong M.. Time heals. Love and strength !!”, as for another user commented that posting the statement before rumours started spreading is a very dignified way of handling this delicate situation.
Masaba Gupta and Phantom Films’ co-owner tied the knot through a big Indian wedding as well as an intimate court marriage in June 2015. Close friends Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput Kapoor were present at the wedding celebrations.
