In the filmmaker’s memoir ‘An Unsuitable Boy’, Karan opened up about his first sexual encounter. Karan revealed that he was in New York City post the success of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ where he had his first sexual encounter at the age of 26. This is not all, the filmmaker shocked everybody into silence when he further added that he paid for it!
Rift with Kajol
SRK and Kajol’s dynamic jodi has given us many hits. Bollywood classic such as ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, ‘My Name Is Khan’ being some of them, all under Karan Johar’s banner. Karan Johar and Kajol’s 25-years-old friendship fizzled out when Ajay Devgn shared a recording of Kamaal Rashid stating that Karan paid him Rs 25 Lakhs to trash Ajay’s ‘Shivaay’ and praise ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
In his biography Karan wrote how much his estranged friend Kajol mattered to him but he just blanked out when the actress tweeted ‘shocked’ as her reaction to the situation. That is when he knew what he had with the actress was over.

Khiladi Kumar was a guest on Karan’s talk show when the host poured out his heart on national television. The filmmaker revealed, “The only woman in my life who I thought I was in love with was your wife. I was madly in love with her. I named my character in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Tina because I was in love with her.” Awkward.

Spotting a celebrity and asking for an autograph or a picture to mark the occasion is common however getting a sassy comeback? Not so much. One such fan experienced Karan’s sassiness. Once in an airport a fan spotted Karan and her husband asked the filmmaker, ‘So, are you a homo?’. To this uncalled-for question Karan quickly replied, ‘Why? Are you interested?’ This response not only stunned people present over thre but also the nation. Sassy at his best!
AIB Knockout Showdown and Karan Johar
Amidst the battle to remove section 377 and the not so tolerant masses Karan Johar found himself in a soup while being a part of ‘All India Bakchod’s’ Knockout. In part of the show, actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor poked fun at the host or Roastmaster Karan Johar’s sexual orientation and preferences. Karan in response was equally crass with the actors. However, Karan’s frank disposition not only received laughs but also backlashes. Ones involved in the show were slapped with legal charges.
As an honorable mention we would like to mention Karan Johar’s infamous spat with actress Kangana Ranaut on his talk show. On the show Kangana accused Karan of being the flag bearer of nepotism in Bollywood. This not only gathered TRPs but also sparked a debate across Bollywood.
