Sad Demise! Actress Rani Mukerji’s Father Ram Mukherjee Passed Away At Age 84

Rani Mukerji’s father Ram Mukherjee, who is also a filmmaker and director passed away at his residence in Mumbai.

A few months ago Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father had passed away. Now, actress Rani Mukerji’s father leaves for the heavenly abode. Ram Mukherjee, a veteran filmmaker, director and producer of Bengali and Hindi Cinema passed away yesterday at 4am morning at his Mumbai residence. According to inside resources, Ram Mukerjee’s blood pressure was plunging drastically following which he was admitted to the hospital. 

Krishna Mukerjee shared the news with Indian Express, “His blood pressure dropped suddenly and he was admitted to Breach Candy hospital where doctors declared him dead at 5 am. He was doing fine earlier and this was sudden.”

He is also one of the founding member of Filmalaya Studios situated in Mumbai. His renowned Bengali directed movies are Raktanadir Dhara (1994), Tomar Rakte Amar Sohag (1993), Raktalekha (1992), Ek Bar Mooskura Do (1972) and Hindi movies Leader (1964) and Hum Hindustani (1960).

It was Ram Mukerjee who had first launched his daughter Rani Mukerji into Bengali cinema. Rani Mukerji’s first leading role Hindi movie ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat’ was produced by her father Ram Mukerjee. 

The Veteran filmmaker is survived by his wife Krishna Mukerji, daughter Rani and son Raja. 

Ram Mukerjee was cremated yesterday at 3pm. Only a handful of Bollywood celebs were seen at Ram Mukerjee’s cremation ceremony. Ranveer Singh, Rani’s husband film producer Aditya Chopra and Arjun Kapoor’s sister Anshula Kapoor attended the last rites.
