When asked about the plagiarism charges against their film, at the star-studded premiere of Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Sushant Singh Rajput looked disturbed. He snapped back saying, “If you read up any book on the screenplay, the most basic book, the first chapter of that book tells you that there are only eight different stories that you can tell, so every story is from those stories. It’s as simple as that.”

Kriti soon got the control of Sushant’s anger and reacted saying, “I want to say that I have seen the film that you are talking about (Maghadheera) and I have read the Raabta script. I know the film inside out and it is in no way similar. The characters, the narrative…everything from scratch is different.”

Talking about Magadheera storyline, the film, which released in 2009, saw Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. The film is a re-creation tale of two lovers who were separated by an evil traitor. After centuries later they get a chance to reunite but their old enemy is reborn to create distance between them. In fact, when the trailer of Raabta was released, the audience itself had pointed out striking similarities to the 2009 Telegu film ‘Magadheera’.
